Cuban President Raúl Castro was heading
the central activities in Havana for International
Workers Day, in which hundreds of thousands
of Cubans have come out in support of workers
around the world and the revolution.
Students, elementary schoolchildren, families,
combatants, artists and workers are parading
at the José Martí Plaza de la
Revolución in Havana and in other squares,
streets and avenues throughout Cuba in support
of the revolution and its socialist project
and was denounce the most recent smear campaign
orchestrated by the hegemonic mass media.
President Raúl Castro was accompanied
by leaders of the Communist Party of Cuba, of
government, of the Union of Young Communists,
of mass organizations, of the Central Organization
of Trade Unions and invited labor delegations
and social movements.
The International Workers Day parades held throughout
the island was a demonstration of the Cuban
reality, of the will of the people to defend
their achievements and independence.
